A wonderful opportunity to see film that is made with consideration and time devoted to a story that allows actresses and actors an opportunity to utilize their acting talents. The sets are authentic and portray a bygone era of entertainment that has slipped away from us.

Any film with Anne Crawford in it will get five stars from me, but this also earns them on its own merits. A circus drama with Anne as one of the pair of acrobats. Herbert Lom plays the stranger whose psychic powers transform the circuses fortunes, but lead to disruption and animosity. Great stuff.

MUCH much better than expected
I expected a snorefest here, but this one surprised me with it's great acting and nice side plots and twists even if the circus acts themselves weren't really all that impressive.. Watch this movie before you die of boredom watching old crappy cowboy movies!

A must watch
British movies of the 1930s,40s and 50s are my passion so when I saw this listed I had to watch. It was great to see so much talent packed into a great story.
Anne Crawford was only 35 when she died of leukemia, but we can see in this movie the great actress she might have become.
Josephine Wilson, who married Bernard Miles, is always interesting to watch. She played Madame Kummer in Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes. I was very pleased to see her in this as she has much more screen time than any movie I have ever seen her in.
Herbert Lom is fascinating. An international favorite. Most younger movie fans know him best for his role as Chief Inspector Dreyfus in the Pink Panther series.
This movie is well worth watching.
